Research Strengths and Specialist Centres
Philosophy of the Senses
The Institute is internationally recognised for its pioneering work on perception through its Centre for the Study of the Senses (CenSes) and CORA (Centre on the Understanding of the Senses). Research in this area draws on philosophy, neuroscience, psychology, and the arts to explore the nature of experience, embodiment, and the role of the senses in shaping cognition and identity.
Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence
Through strategic initiatives such as the London AI and Humanity Project, the Institute is at the forefront of philosophical research into the ethical, conceptual, and societal implications of AI. Our upcoming events—including the Summer of AI programme and the Philosophy of AI Summer School—provide doctoral researchers with exceptional opportunities to engage with leading scholars in philosophy, computer science, cognitive science, and public policy.
