British Academy Visiting Fellowships
Deadline for Expression of Interest – 9th August 2024
The Institute of Philosophy at the School of Advanced Study is inviting proposals from suitably qualified applicants for the 2025 round of the British Academy Visiting Fellowships scheme. We welcome applications from researchers working in the following fields: Philosophy of AI, Philosophy and the Senses, Philosophy of Neuroscience, Philosophy of Mind.
This programme provides outstanding academics based in any country overseas with the opportunity to be based at a UK higher education or other research institution. The programme is open to academics at any postdoctoral career stage, and in any discipline within the humanities and social sciences.
The aim of this programme is to ensure that the UK remains an attractive, welcoming, and productive research environment for academics globally. Through this programme, the Academy aims to:
enhance and build new links between scholars from around the globe and in the UK
foster opportunities and encourage the development of new and future partnerships for collaborative research into the humanities and social sciences;
enable academics from across the globe to undertake research and/or professional development with UK colleagues
- strengthen the UK’s research bases in the humanities and the social sciences.
The final application deadline for the 2025 scheme is 23rd October 2024 (this is the British Academy's deadline for applicants, including institution statement of support and organisational approval). Expressions of interest must be submitted by Friday 9th August 2024 to the director of the Institute of Philosophy at IP@sas.ac.uk , copying research@sas.ac.uk – please use the subject line ‘BA Visiting Fellowship – EoI’.

A 100-word abstract
An outline (two pages maximum) of the research proposal, including intended publication outputs.
Applicants who are to be supported in the fellowship competition by the School of Advanced Study will be notified by 16th August 2024.
