Conference: Externalism, Metasemantics, and the Interpretation of AI

The London AI and Humanity Project, Hong Kong AI and Humanity Lab, University of London – Birkbeck College, School of Advanced Study – Institute of Philosophy, and The University of Hong Kong are excited to host the Externalism, Metasemantics, and the Interpretation of AI conference this June.

To conference aims to bring together philosophers to examine foundational questions about language, thought, and artificial intelligence. The workshop focuses on themes in externalism and metasemantics, with special attention to how these issues bear on the interpretation and explanatory role of AI systems.

 

Topics will include the nature of content, the limits of internalist models, and the relevance of metasemantic theories for understanding the apparent linguistic and cognitive capacities of artificial agents.
