IP Professor Nicholas Shea awarded the 2020 Lakatos Prize
Monday 6 July 2020
Congratulations to Institute of Philosophy colleague, Professor Nicholas Shea, who has been awarded the prestiigious 2020 Lakatos Prize for his book, Representation in Cognitive Science. This is a landmark work in understanding how the brain represents features of an agent’s external and internal environment. Work on the book began with an AHRC grant under the Science in Culture Theme. We are delighted to see the recognition given to Nick’s dedicatedly interdisciplinary research, which is informed by a deep understanding of the philosophical arguments and an extensive knowledge of work in the cognitive sciences.
The book is open access and a pdf can be downloaded from the Oxford University Press website.
